Edith is the CEO of EcoTourism Kenya. She is a Co-founder and Principal Partner at EED. She has a wealth of experience in natural resource management, environmental policy planning, environmental assessments and carbon asset management. She is a seasoned consultant having provided regional advisory services for UNECA, UNEP, IGAD and The World Bank, She has held senior management positions at Camco Clean Energy and NIRAS Consulting. She is a Chevening Scholar, holds a BA in Geography from Baraton University (Kenya), a Masters in Water and Environmental Management from Loughborough University (UK) and trained in Applied Environmental Economics at the Imperial College London (UK). Edith is currently a researcher at the University of Nairobi with research interests in policy solutions related to chemical water pollution.

Frederick is an energy economist and the immediate former Director of Economic Regulations at the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA). He is both a scholar and practitioner with over 30 years of experience in the energy sector, including teaching positions at the University of Nairobi and Moi University. Frederick has played a key role in the development of energy policy and regulations in Kenya including the drafting of the Sessional Paper No. 4 of 2004 on Energy, Feed-in-Tariffs Policy-2008/12, and the initiation of the Least Cost Power Development Plan process among others. He holds a PhD in Energy and Environmental Economics from the University of Amsterdam (1999), is a Certified Regulation Specialist (Loughborough University, 2010), and is a member of the International Association for Energy Economics.

Jordan is a research scientist currently working as the Research Manager at LVCT Health in Nairobi. His research experience includes evaluation of water and sanitation projects in rural Kenya; unravelling HIV transmission networks using molecular and epidemiological tools in a Senegalese cohort; investigating the link between Intimate Partner Violence and HIV infection in co-habiting Kenyan women and characterization of HIV risk factors in women from Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa. Jordan holds a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Brussels, a Master of Public Health from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a PhD from the University of Antwerp and the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp.

Michael is the Head of Risk at the Qatar National Bank. He has over 14 years of experience within the Risk and Compliance sector in Africa. Michael was the Assistant General Manager for Risk Management & Compliance as well as the Head of Risk and Compliance at Chase Bank Kenya Limited. Prior to his role at Chase Bank, Michael served as the Internal Auditor and Treasury Risk Manager respectively at the Co-operative Bank of Kenya. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics & Business Studies from Kenyatta University and a Global Executive MBA from the United States International University.

Rob is a Senior Scientist at the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), focused on the relationships between energy, social welfare, and environmental change in developing countries. He first became interested in these themes while working as a teacher in the U.S. Peace Corps in north-western Kenya. Rob’s current research focuses mainly on biomass energy, ranging from traditional energy carriers like wood and charcoal to advanced liquid biofuels.  Before SEI, he was an Associate Professor at Yale University, School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Rob has a B.S. in physics from Pennsylvania State University, an M.S. from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. in energy and resources from the University of California, Berkeley.

Tameezan is an energy practitioner with over 25 years’ experience working in renewable energy in both the private and development sectors in Kenya. She is the founder and current Chair of Women in Sustainable Energy and Entrepreneurship (WISEE) which aims to assist women to acquire skills and knowledge to use and promote Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) in East Africa and was formerly  the energy portfolio coordinator at Practical Action Consulting. Her areas of specialization are solar photovoltaics and bioenergy. Tameezan’s engagement in the energy sector cuts across several countries including Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, India, Peru, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Evans is the Director of the East Africa Institute at Aga Khan University, Nairobi. He is a research scientist and international development practitioner with over 18 years of experience in programme development, project management and grants administration across Africa and South Asia. He holds a PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry from the University of Nairobi/Max Planck Institut fur Chemie, Germany and a Master of Business Administration from Africa Nazarene University. He held the position of Senior Programme Specialist at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC)’s Climate Change Programme for over 10 years. Evans also served as a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Environmental Chemistry Department at the University of Nairobi.

David is an independent Energy Consultant dedicating some of his work-time to the USAID/Power Africa Transactions and Reforms Program (PATRP) as Senior Technical Advisor, Energy, Kenya. He has over 38 years of experience in the power sector. At Kenya Power, David rose through the ranks from a Graduate Apprentice to the position of Chief Manager, Planning, Research and Performance Monitoring, which he held for 9 years from 2001 to 2010. He has extensive experience with international and regional electric power affairs and has been/is a member of various regional and international power initiatives. David hold a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Nairobi and is a Registered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya.
