Prevailing discussions on decarbonising the global power sector originate from and are held within the context of wealthier economies. The purpose of this review is to provide an evidence base for an informed discussion on this issue framed within the African context, to evaluate this global aspiration against local realities. Part of this included case studies and modelling high renewable energy dependent future scenarios.
